Cheap, cheerful and eco-friendly

One of the joys of visiting new places is that you get the chance to see other people’s gardens.

Yes, I’m that nosy woman who looks over hedges and through gateways exclaiming, ‘Oh, look at that!’

I want a veg patch like this ...
... and I must have a purple and silver flower bed

Perhaps, when I am Rich, passers-by will want to peep into my lovely garden. If so, they’ll be very welcome.

But I wouldn’t need much money to copy this idea that I found during our holiday in Scotland. A greenhouse made from plastic bottles. Simply brilliant!

It was in a garden attached to a primary school. I do hope it inspires all the children there to become passionate and knowledgeable gardeners.

Have you seen any good gardening ideas lately?

Disorganized

When I am Rich I’ll be able to employ someone to organize my holidays for me. I’ll tell them where I want to go and leave it up to them to book the accommodation, make the travel arrangements, research the area and draw up a detailed plan of where to go and what to do each day.

On second thoughts … I’d rather make my own adventure.

See you when I get back!

Perfect for some

Remember this?

Earlier this year my husband and I decided we needed to replace our ageing car. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the perfect hybrid vehicle that would please us both so someone had to back down …

Who’s a happy bunny then?

(But I’m still dreaming of my little camper van!)

A question of wheels

Our poor, old car has reached the stage where it will probably cost less to replace it than to keep repairing it. So what sort of new car should we buy? Something small and economical for local trips? Something comfortable and roomy for longer journeys?

When we are Rich, we’ll have a fleet of vehicles to suit all occasions (plus a chauffeur/ mechanic to look after them all).

In the meantime …
he's looking longingly at sports cars …
and I’m thinking a little camper van would be nice …

I wonder if there’s a way we could compromise?

If money was no object, what would your ideal vehicle be like?

Christmas visits

When I am Rich I will have a house with lots of guest rooms – no, make that guest suites – and I’ll invite all my friends and family to spend Christmas with me.
But until then …

… it’s me who’ll be doing the visiting (if we don’t have any more snow!)

Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays!

See you in the New Year!

They’re back!

When I am rich I will be able to fly to Africa whenever I please – and I will be very pleased.

I have never set foot on that vast continent. I’ve seen photos, watched documentaries, read traveller’s tales … and I’m impatient to experience some of those things for myself.

Now, Africa has come to me. The swallows are back!

Was the first one I saw an English swallow returning home from a holiday in the sun? Or an African swallow coming here to start 4 months of hard work raising 2, or perhaps 3, new families?
I like to think birds have no boundaries. They belong to the whole World.

I haven’t been able to get any photos of this year’s swallows, but here are some of last year’s visitors.
